Dr Beatriz Martins

Dr Beatriz Arakawa Martins is a specialist Geriatrician with more than 15 years of experience caring for older adults. She is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in Geriatric Medicine and currently works as a Consultant Geriatrician at Peninsula Health. Dr Arakawa Martins completed a PhD in Geriatric Medicine through the University of Adelaide and Nagoya University, Japan, and was awarded a Dean’s Commendation for Doctoral Thesis Excellence.

Her approach to care is holistic and centred on the individual. She is passionate about preventing and managing frailty, maintaining independence and helping older people remain safely at home for as long as possible.

Dr Arakawa Martins has extensive experience managing complex health issues in older adults across hospital and residential aged-care settings. She also has a strong interest in research and medical education, with numerous publications relating to frailty, healthy ageing, nutrition, physical activity and quality of life in older adults.
